Self Employed Group Health Insurance Plans for one person are now available in Virginia. Effective 07-01-2018 Virginia law now allows the self employed to qualify for a one person group policy. This law requires all health insures in Virginia to offer the self employed group health coverage.

One Person Group Health Policy Benefits:

Enrolling as a one person group as many benefits compared to purchasing an individual Affordable Care Act plan. In the Richmond, Virginia market for 2018 you only of a choice of 5 individual Affordable Care Act plans compare to the over 100 plans that United HealthCare offers a one person group in the Richmond market. You will have access to a much larger number of doctors and hospitals with a group policy compare to an individual affordable care act policy.

Who Qualifies for One Person Group:

Single member LLCs, sole proprietors, partnerships, or corporations with no employees partners and no partners. You must work full time for your business and have filed a tax return for the previous tax year.

Tax Documents Required for Enrollment:

· Sole proprietorship:  Schedule C or F (from 1040)

· Partnership, S corporation, or LLC: Schedule K-1 for the sole partner/member

· C corporation: most recently filed Virginia Employment Commission’s Employer’s Quarterly Tax Report (VEC) or W-2
